Enjoying Russia Dock Woodland

I spent most of today sitting in my patio garden talking archaeology with a good friend, when he wasn't dozing off in the sun. But after I had delivered him to the tube station I took the camera for a stroll over the road into Russia Dock Woodland (RDW) to enjoy the low evening sunlight filtering through the trees. It was difficult to believe that at gone 6pm the heat was still strong and the sun still so bright in the sky.

The park was full of people lying in the grass with picnics, playing with frisbees, taking pushchairs round and generally having a good time - lovely to see. The aquatic birds were out and about in force, and the trees seemed to be full of bickering magpies.
