Graffiti and gangs - a really unpleasant surprise

I was really upset about the graffiti sprayed onto the Michael Rizzello sculpture at the top of Stave Hill last weekend. I will go and have a look to see if it has been removed later today. But it hadn't crossed my mind that it was anything other than a piece of one-off brainless vandalism. Thanks to Steve Cornish for disabusing me of my somewhat naive assumptions. He was told by some local youngsters that the word 'osprey' is a 'tag name' for the 'Osprey Estate gang, based at Surrey Quays. And the word 'terror' (which was sprayed onto the sculpture's plinth) is a threat to the 'Downtown boys' just to let them know that they have visited 'their manor'.

The mind boggles, quite frankly.
