A
descendent of the Talbot barge building family sent me a photograph today that she found in her grandmother's photograph collection
of a building where her grandmother lived in Rotherhithe, which
apparently backed onto Southwark Park, in around 1907. It was obviously a well-to-do household and was obviously in a row of similar homes, four storeys high and three bays deep, with a basement. I have looked
through the usual Stephen Humphrey, Debra Gosling and Peter Marcan
books, and have had a good look around online, but have found nothing
useful. It is entirely likely that it is no longer standing. Can anyone help? I would be most grateful. Thanks. Andie. andie [at] rotherhitheblog .co .uk
These houses look very much like those situated between Lady Gomm House (now the Cavendish School) 58-59 Hawkstone Road and Southwark Council rent office at 153-159 Abbeyfield Road. I hope this is correct and helps somehow.
